Workers' Health and Safety Centre (WHSC) ScholarshipsEvery year the WHSC distributes a number of scholarships to the various worker organizations. The number of scholarships any organization receives is determined by the number of WHSC training programs and workshops a union conducted throughout the previous year. In 2004, ONA was awarded three scholarships for the two-week WHSC Instructor Training Program. Over the next two-years (2005 and 2006) the WHSC has determined that scholarships will be allocated for an intensive Joint Heath and Safety Committee training aimed at equipping committee members with the skills to function at their maximum capacity. For the third year (2007) - The WHSC will once again hold a two week Instructor Training Program. This program teaches participates how to become WHSC qualified instructors so they themselves can eventually teach any WHSC training program. Once allocated, ONA determines how many scholarships will go to each region and once that determination is made the ONA health and safety district service teams networks decide who will attend.
